Spring 2022 Plan Changes - Frequently asked questions
Keep in mind that this documentation may be out of date. Our past updates remain available in our help center as a historical record. We've come a long way since 2014!
Have you seen the news? On March 30th, BEE Pro will be offering a new plan. What’s more exciting is this new plan will be free! This also means we’ll be making some changes to existing BEE Pro plans.
We first announced this to existing subscribers via email on February 28th, 2022. In this article, we’ll explore frequently asked questions regarding the upcoming change. If you're looking for details on our new plans, please see Spring 2022 - New Plans Comparison.
General Questions
Why a Free plan?
Based on your feedback, we decided to simplify our BEE Pro offering. We’re creating a Free plan for anyone that loves creating emails and landing pages using BEE Pro, but only needs it occasionally. Some customers used to cancel their subscription as a result. Now, they can just stay on the Free plan.
What happened to the Freelancer and Agency plans?
The Freelancer and Agency plans are no longer available based on our decision to simplify the BEE Pro offering. The decision was the result of feedback collected from BEE Pro users over the years.
A simplified offering means that you can quickly find a plan that fits your needs.
-
Free, if you’re a light user and need to create emails and landing pages seasonally or occasionally.
-
Team, if you’re a business user taking advantage of quick, collaborative email & page design.
-
Enterprise, if you need more workspace controls, workflow features, and a higher level of support.
Freelancer Questions
I’m currently on a monthly Freelancer plan. What does this mean for me?
Your subscription will upgrade to the Team plan once the Free plan is available. This upgrade will happen automatically. However, we will continue to honor your Freelancer price ($15/month) for three months. During these three months, we encourage you to evaluate Team to decide which plan is best for you (to compare them, see Spring 2022 - New Plans Comparison). You can downgrade to Free at any time. If you make no changes before the end of three months, you will remain on Team at the posted price ($30/month +additional users, if applicable).
I’m currently on an annual Freelancer plan. What does this mean for me?
You will also be automatically upgraded to the Team plan once the Free plan is available. You will not be charged for this upgrade. You can use the Team plan at your annual Freelancer rate until the end of your yearly service period. Before renewal, you'll need to decide whether to remain on Team or to downgrade to the Free plan. If you make no changes, the renewal will trigger a payment for the posted annual Team rate ($300/year + additional users, if applicable).
Why are you automatically upgrading Freelancer subscriptions to Team?
The new Free plan contains some limitations (see Spring 2022 - New Plans Comparison). If Freelancer customers were moved to the Free plan, the downgrade could cause some issues. For example, some BEE Pro customers would not be able to edit some of their emails or pages.
By moving all Freelancer customers to Team, that risk of disruption goes away. They get to experience the additional functionality available on the Team plan, and there is no increase in cost. They have 3 months (or until the end of their annual subscription) to decide whether to stay on Team or downgrade to Free.
Can I switch to the Free plan before March 30, 2022?
No, the Free plan is not ready yet :-)
We are testing it thoroughly and will push it live on March 30, 2022.
After March 30, can I switch to another plan at any time?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time. You don’t need to wait until the end of three months (or the end of your annual billing period). However, we encourage you to take some time to evaluate the Team plan before you make a decision. Also, make sure that you review the differences between plans (see Spring 2022 - New Plans Comparison).
I’m currently using the Freelancer plan with a nonprofit discount. How will this impact me?
Your account will not be impacted. You'll just get access to more features. Moving forward, all nonprofit accounts with a 100% discount will be on the Team plan.
I'm currently on a monthly Freelancer plan. What if I upgrade to annual before the Free plan is available?
You will still be upgraded to Team when the Free plan becomes available. You can continue using the Team plan at no additional charge until the end of your annual billing period. As with other situations, you will be charged the full price for Team at renewal, unless you downgrade before the billing period resets.
Team Questions
I’m on a Team plan. Will anything change for me?
Absolutely nothing is changing in terms of pricing for the Team plan! In addition, new features are going live all the time, and this will continue to be the case. And if you want BEE Pro to have an even bigger impact on your business, we encourage you to explore the Enterprise plan. It provides even more functionality and services to help you create on-brand emails and landing pages at scale. Reach out to our Customer Success team for more information.
I’m on a Team plan. Can I switch to another plan?
Yes, you can change your subscription whenever you want. You can contact our Customer Success team to discuss Enterprise, stick with the Team plan, or go to Free.
Agency & Enterprise Questions
What happened to the Agency plan?
The Agency plan is no longer being offered.
If you are already an Agency customer, you can stay on this plan for the foreseeable future. We’re not saying forever because we don’t know yet if or when the plan will be deprecated. If we decide to eliminate it, we will certainly let you know with ample notice.
Can I add users to my Agency plan?
Yes, you can add new users or remove users. You can continue to enjoy the Agency plan as you do today.
Can I purchase the Agency plan before it becomes unavailable?
Absolutely! The last day you can purchase the Agency plan will be March 29, 2022.
What’s in the Enterprise plan?
The Enterprise plan offers features and services with large businesses in mind. Designing content becomes faster, cheaper, more decentralized. At the same time, Enterprise ensures brand features and quality controls. Does this sound like something that your company needs? If so, you can request more information from our Customer Success team.
Feature Questions
Will you still offer a free trial for paid BEE Pro plans?
Yes! A 15-day free trial for the Team plan will remain available to anyone that's using the Free plan. So if you start on the Free plan and decide to try a premium feature, you can do so by starting a free trial. At the end of the free trial period, you can stay on the Team plan, or go back to the Free plan.
The only limitation is that you can try the Team plan once. Once you've completed the free trial, you cannot start another free trial period.
If you wish to try the Enterprise plan, please contact our Customer Success team.
What sort of features will be available on the Free plan?
Details about the Free plan - as well as a comparison with the Team and Enterprise plan - are available in Spring 2022 - New Plans Comparison.
Can you provide more details about the features that will be "limited" in the Free plan?
Yes! There are two features that are listed as having limited availability in the Free plan:
- Workspace styles and settings Only the workspace color palette will be available for Free accounts.
- Connectors The Free plan will have access to the same connectors currently available on the Freelancer plan. This includes Acumbamail, Amazon SES, Campaign Monitor, Gmail, Mailchimp, MailUp, and SendinBlue. All other connectors are considered "premium" and will be available on Team and Enterprise accounts.
Will the Free plan require a credit card?
No, we will never ask for credit card details until you purchase a paid plan.
What happens if I downgrade from a paid plan to the Free plan?
The Free plan limits the number of emails and landing pages that you can store in BEE Pro. As a result, a downgrade to Free may make some of your assets unavailable.
In a downgrade, the following will happen:
- Brands (Workspaces) - if any - will be removed.
- Projects will be moved into the only workspace.
- The 10 most recently edited emails and pages will remain available.
- The 3 most recently edited custom templates will remain available.
- The 2 most recently edited saved rows will remain available.
- All additional users will be given admin-level access.
- Custom subdomains/domains for landing pages will no longer be available.
Now you might be wondering, what about the rest of my designs that are no longer available? Not to worry! We'll hold onto those for you, but they will be "frozen". You will still be able to see your frozen emails and pages, but frozen templates and rows will be hidden. You can access these frozen assets at any time by upgrading back to Team.

Hi.
I'm trying to understand whether I can continue with the Free plan. I use Bee Pro once a month to generate an Email from a Template. I just have one Template. I'm not exactly sure what a 'Project' is, but it appears that I have 1 Project and that my 'Emails' are stored within that Project.
It says above that 'Projects will be removed'. I'm not sure what implications that has. Will I be able to continue to generate an Email each month from my Template?
Thanks, William
Hi William. We are sorry if this may have caused some confusion. The project is intended as a folder where you can create many emails. You could have more projects/folders in order to organize differently your designs. But you can also create them in in only one folder. Hope this will clarify. If you need more information, please open a support ticket via the help widget. Thanks!
