HTML Minifier
This article applies to the Email builder in Business and Enterprise plans.
Overview
Creating emails with eye-catching and engaging designs can help your conversion rate. However, these designs can also be complex, sometimes presenting unique challenges. For example, large HTML files can cause deliverability issues and Gmail clipping. That's where our HTML Minifier comes in. This tool can help you resize the code without sacrificing design elements.
What is it
The HTML Minifier allows you to create a design without worrying about the size of the code. An impactful design might need many different types of content blocks. The more complex your design is, the larger the HTML file becomes. This ‘compression’ tool minifies the code without changing how it renders.
How it works in Beefree
Let’s examine how this works in your Beefree account. After you save an email, you can click on the export option within the email builder. Note that the export option is available in several locations within Beefree. For more information, check out Testing and exporting your emails with Beefree.
The Minifier is available for the following export options:
- Get the HTML code
- Download HTML and Images
Use the toggle to minify the HTML code. As you can see from the example below, the size of the design is different.

Benefits
There are several different reasons why you might want or need to use the HTML Minifer. Below we've listed some of the most popular examples:
- Save time: If you need to export the design to a third-party tool, then you don't need to manually check the file size. The Minifier will do it for you.
- Avoid Rendering Issues: Gmail clipping can cut off the bottom portion of your email. If the footer of your email includes an Unsubscribe link, the recipient may be unable to find it.
- Improves Deliverability: Some spam filters may flag emails larger than 100KB. Reducing the HTML footprint can help your email reach a recipient's inbox.
- Boost mobile optimization: Smaller HTML files load faster on mobile devices.
Additional Considerations
- HTML size in the export modal may differ slightly from the size displayed in Smart Check. This is because certain elements, such as UTM parameters, aren’t added until export.
- The HTML weight displayed in the export modal takes 30 seconds to update after your design is saved. The original HTML size may reflect the previous version if you save and export in under 30 seconds. The minified version will reflect the most recent version, but the size may increase.
- Once you toggle on the Minifier, it becomes the default for future exports. You can toggle it off at any time.
- When the HTML is under 80 KB, the size is written in grey font. If the HTML exceeds 80 KB, the size will become yellow.
