Multilingual Designs
This article applies to paid plans.
Overview
With Multilingual Designs, you can integrate multiple languages into a single design without the need of creating separate designs. Whether it's email campaigns or webpage content, Beefree simplifies the process by managing localization. You can add translated content to Multilingual Designs, with the option to leverage AI assistance for efficient translations. Use this feature to avoid creating and managing separate designs for each language, reduce localization costs and improve team efficiency.
Multilingual Designs also ensure consistency in design elements, which helps maintain your brand identity across different language versions. Ultimately, Multilingual Designs enable you to efficiently create content that will resonate with your international audiences.

Edit Details
When working with Multilingual Designs, it is important to note that design details such as subject, preheader, meta description and so on are automatically created in the design’s primary language. You can change these details for each language by editing the details that correspond with each language.
To edit details for each language, take the following steps:
- Enter the design language you would like to edit details for
- Click the Edit details icon in the top bar
- Manually type in the translated content for the corresponding design
- Click Save

When you send a test email with Multilingual Designs, you can select which language you’d like to send the test email in.
Take the following steps to send a test email in one of your additional languages:
- Click on the Send test icon in your top bar
A popup will appear with a drop-down menu of language options and a field to type an email address
- Select the language of the test email from the drop-down menu

- Click Send
- Check the inbox you sent the test email to
Export Options
When you export an email or page with Multilingual Designs, you will have the option to select which language you would like to export the email or page in. This works for all the export options.
These export options include the following:
- Get HTML & Images
- Copy the HTML
- Push to your sending system
- Download a PDF
Note: MailUp, Acumbamail, and Contactlab connectors do not support Multilingual Designs. When you export to these platforms, only the primary language will be used.
Export HTML
When you select the Get HTML & Images or Copy the HTML export options, you can export your design HTML in any of the Multilingual Design languages you selected in your Multilingual settings.
Take the following steps to export your HTML in one of your template's additional languages:
- Enter your multilingual design
- Click the Export button on the upper right-hand side of the screen
- Select one of the two export HTML options available
- The Select language version drop-down menu will appear
- Select the language you want to export from the menu
- Confirm the export
The HTML you exported will be in the language you selected.
Note: When you export HTML from Beefree, the HTML is always in English. However, the content within your design, which varies depending on the language of the multilingual design, is what exports within your HTML.
Update Existing Connectors
If you use the “Update existing” option when exporting, the design language that was last edited will be the one that exports to the connector.
The connectors with this option are the following:
- ZeptoMail
- Braze
- Veeva Vault
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Contactlab
- HubSpot Pages
How to Change Language Settings
If at any point you would like to change your language settings, you can click on the globe located in the top bar and then select Multilingual Settings. This will open the primary and additional languages settings, which you can edit according to your new preferences.
Note: To change the primary language of your design, you first need to delete all of the additional languages on your Multilingual Design. You cannot set the same language as a primary language and as an additional language.
Important Considerations
When using Multilingual Designs, ensure you consider the following:
- Depending on the type of Beefree subscription you have, you will have access to a certain number of languages.
- Ensure you add the translated content to your Multilingual Designs, the content is not automatically translated when you select a template language.
- Even if you add the translated metadata for each design language, the Subject, Preheader, and UTMs in the Details section will still display the metadata from the primary language.
- The Multilingual Design remains multilingual when you generate an email from a page or a page from an email.
- When users share their multilingual designs through the import link, all languages are imported based on the plan limitations.
- Review for approval is only available for the primary language on the design, and sent for review in the primary language. However, the email requesting the review includes preview links for each language.
- Copy and move actions retain all the languages of the imported multilingual designs.
Page Multilingual Designs Considerations
Consider the following when working with Multilingual Designs in pages.
- When you publish a Multilingual page design, you also publish each language version of the design
- You can select the language version when you share a page on social networks
